Former EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde Passes Away at 61

Ibrahim Lamorde, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has passed away at the age of 61. He died in Egypt on Sunday morning, where he had gone for medical treatment.

Lamorde's career in law enforcement began when he joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1986. He eventually retired in 2021 as a Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Lamorde was appointed as the acting chairman of the EFCC by President Goodluck Jonathan on November 23, 2011, succeeding Mrs. Waziri. He was confirmed as the substantive chairman on February 15, 2012. His tenure as chairman ended on November 9, 2015, when President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the EFCC.
