Aide Defends President Tinubu’s Fall During Presidential Parade At Eagle Square

Presidential Aide, Bayo Onanuga has defended President Bola Tinubu’s fall prior to the presidential parade at Eagle Square, Abuja, saying that “Tinubu is not a Superman.”


According to Onanuga, the Special Adviser (Information and Strategy), ” President Tinubu is not Superman. He is human like all of us. President Biden has had several slips in the last three years.


“Even the younger Barack Obama slipped while President. Political leaders are human. Slipping should not detract from the import of the Democracy Day celebration”, Onanuga cited in his X handle (formerly Twitter) shortly after the incident.


President Tinubu had tripped and fell on Wednesday while attempting to mount the parade vehicle during the Democracy Day celebration at the Eagle Square in Abuja.


According to reports by Vanguard Newspapers, Footage of the incident had since gone viral on social media, with netizens expressing concern.


The President had approached the vehicle shortly after he arrived at the Eagles Square, Abuja venue of the June 12 commemoration.


Vanguard gathered that the President lost his footing momentarily as he was about to embark on the parade vehicle.

However, the president, who was immediately assisted by his aides after the incident, resumed duties at the ceremony.


The event was part of a series of events to mark the country’s Democracy Day celebration at the Eagles Square.
