The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has corrected misleading media reports suggesting that it was responsible for eliminating 70 Boko Haram terrorists and destroying five camps in the Lake Chad Basin.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullah, Chief Military Public Information Officer at MNJTF headquarters in Ndjamena, Chad, clarified that the operation was solely carried out by the Chadian Armed Forces.

He stated, "The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) was inaccurately credited with the elimination of 70 Boko Haram terrorists and the destruction of five camps in the Lake Chad Basin by some media outlets. It is crucial to clarify that this operation and the subsequent neutralization of the terrorists were solely conducted by the Chadian Armed Forces within their territory in the Lake Chad Basin Area."

The Chadian military officially announced the successful operation during a press conference on June 30, 2024.

Abdullahi expressed regret over any confusion caused by the previous press release, which may have been misinterpreted.

"We apologize for any confusion caused by the previous press release

"The MNJTF respects and acknowledges the significant accomplishments of the Chadian forces in combating terrorism.

"Moving forward, we are committed to providing clear and precise information to ensure proper attribution of military operations and their outcomes, he added.
