The Federal Government has announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), raising it from N33,000 to N77,000, starting from July 2024.

This development was shared by the NYSC on Wednesday via a statement on its official Facebook page, confirming the approval of the new allowance structure.

According to the statement, "The Federal Government has approved the increment of Corps Members' monthly allowance to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (N77,000) with effect from July 2024."

This decision aligns with the provisions of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 and was conveyed in a letter issued by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission on September 25, 2024. The letter was signed by the Commission's Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta.

The NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed had visited the Chairman of the Commission to advocate for enhanced welfare benefits for Corps Members.

The NYSC leadership has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for this timely intervention, noting that it will provide much-needed financial relief and encourage Corps Members to continue making meaningful contributions to national development.
