Bello Turji Denies Allegations of Minister Matawalle's Involvement in Banditry

Notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, has dismissed claims that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is sponsoring his group's criminal activities.

Turji, who has been linked to various violent operations in Zamfara State, insists that his actions are solely guided by divine will and not by any political influence.

Turji's statement comes amid a public feud between Matawalle and his successor, Governor Dauda Lawal. The two politicians have exchanged accusations regarding the ongoing insecurity in Zamfara, with both blaming each other for allegedly supporting banditry.

Recently, Matawalle challenged Lawal to swear on the Quran that he had no ties to the state’s bandit crisis.

In a recent video, Turji rejected the notion that his group receives support from Matawalle or any other politician.

He questioned the validity of the accusations, asking who had been backing them during the terms of previous governors, including Abdulaziz Yari. "No one is supporting us except God," Turji declared, dismissing the claims as political distractions.

Turji further criticized Governor Lawal, arguing that pointing fingers at others would not solve the security challenges facing Zamfara State.
