Defence Chief Cautions Against Engaging in Deals with Terrorists and Bandits

The Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, has strongly cautioned citizens against engaging in any form of trade or business transactions with terrorists, bandits, and other non-state actors.

He emphasized that such actions undermine the efforts of the military and other security agencies in maintaining peace and stability.

This warning follows intelligence reports indicating that some individuals have been trading with these criminal groups, jeopardizing national security for personal financial gain.

Speaking on Christmas Day during a visit to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Medical Centre, General Musa reiterated the importance of prioritizing national security over individual interests.

The visit, which also marked his birthday, included charitable activities and interactions with patients and medical personnel.

Reflecting on the security situation in 2024, General Musa noted significant progress in the fight against terrorism and other forms of insecurity, pledging that even greater achievements would be realized in the coming year.

“Since we started, there has been remarkable improvement in the security situation, and we aim to build on that. Next year will be pivotal as we intensify efforts to ensure Nigeria becomes more peaceful.

General Musa called for collective cooperation from citizens, urging them to report suspicious activities and refrain from supporting criminal elements.

"Those trading with terrorists and bandits should understand that these groups have no respect for anyone. They will eventually turn against you or your loved ones.

"If we do not encourage them or trade with them, they cannot survive,” he added.

General Musa also announced that the new DHQ hospital would be completed next year, promising enhanced medical services for Armed Forces personnel and their families.

The Defence Chief’s remarks served as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to support national security and ensure a safer Nigeria for all.
