NCS Spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada Promoted to Assistant Comptroller of Customs

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has elevated its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, to the rank of Assistant Comptroller of Customs (ACC). 


This notable achievement is part of a groundbreaking promotion exercise that advanced over 4,000 senior officers, reflecting the Service’s dedication to recognizing excellence and fostering career growth.


The announcement was made during the 61st regular meeting of the NCS Board, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.


Among the promoted officers were one Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and eight Assistant Comptrollers General (ACGs), highlighting the breadth of the advancement initiative.


Maiwada’s promotion is a recognition of his years of outstanding service, innovation, and commitment to the NCS. A distinguished academic, he holds degrees in Environmental Sciences from Bayero University, Kano, and Communication from Crescent University, Abeokuta. He further earned a PhD in Media Arts from the University of Abuja, cementing his reputation as a leading authority in Public Relations and Communications.


Maiwada is fluent in English, Hausa, and Arabic, his multilingual proficiency has enhanced his role as a visionary officer within the Service. His exceptional contributions were previously recognized with the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Meritorious Award in January 2020, a testament to his enduring impact on customs operations and public relations.


Maiwada also championed sustainable development and environmental awareness, establishing himself as a key figure in community relations. His innovative approach and unwavering commitment to excellence have made him a symbol of progress within the NCS.

The promotion underscores the Nigerian Customs Service’s focus on building a dynamic and professional workforce. 


Maiwada’s extensive experience and forward-thinking leadership positioned him to make significant contributions to the Service and the broader society.
