Defence Minister Badaru Represents Nigeria at 2025 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, is currently participating in the 2025 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial, taking place in Berlin, Germany. The high-level gathering, held under the theme "Future of Peacekeeping," brings together global leaders and key stakeholders to deliberate on the evolving dynamics of peace operations and strategies for enhancing international security cooperation.

The Minister was received in Berlin by Gunther Krichbaum, State Minister for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office, and Dr. Nils Schmid, Parliamentary State Minister of Defence. Their reception marked the beginning of high-level engagements focused on Nigeria’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions and deepening bilateral relations with Germany.

The Minister also held a bilateral meeting with Niels Annen, State Secretary of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The discussion centered on Nigeria’s economic potential and prospects for collaboration within the military-industrial sector.

In a separate engagement, the Minister also met with Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The two officials discussed regional security, stability, and the strategic importance of value addition to natural resources in driving sustainable national development.

Badaru's participation underscores Nigeria’s continued commitment to global peacekeeping efforts and its readiness to engage in partnerships that promote security and economic growth.

Among the prominent figures attending the event are United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres; Germany’s Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius; and Dr. Johann Wadephul, Germany’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.
