NAF Rains Fire on Terrorists, Destroys Convoy at Zamfara–Kebbi Border

In a decisive blow to terrorist elements operating in the northwest, air components of the Nigerian Armed Forces have eliminated scores of armed terrorists in a well-coordinated operation along the Zamfara–Kebbi border.

The operation, conducted under OPERATION FASAN YAMMA, followed credible intelligence on the movement of a heavily armed convoy suspected to been route to launch attacks on vulnerable communities in the region. Acting swiftly, the Nigerian Air Force launched precision strikes targeting the convoy as it moved through a notorious corridor known for bandit activity.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, confirmed the operation in a statement issued to journalists. He noted that surveillance assets had earlier identified the terrorists’ movement, including motorcycles and logistical supplies, prompting immediate aerial engagement.

“As a result of the strikes, multiple motorcycles were destroyed, and a significant number of terrorists were neutralised, he stated.

Ground reconnaissance has since confirmed the success of the operation, revealing widespread disruption among the terrorist network. The Defence Headquarters emphasized that follow-up missions are ongoing to prevent any regrouping of fleeing elements.

The Armed Forces expressed appreciation to local communities for their cooperation and reiterated their commitment to restoring peace and security across affected areas.

“Our resolve to protect lives and maintain stability remains firm,” the military assured, pledging continued professionalism and vigilance in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
