The Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) held a colourful send-off ceremony to honour senior officers and soldiers recently redeployed from the College. The event, which took place at the College Lounge in Asokoro, Abuja, was graced by the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Director of Studies, faculty members, and staff of the prestigious institution.

Those honoured included Brigadier General NE Okolaogu, Director of Higher Military Studies and Interagency Relations; Colonel MS Bappaiya, Director of Curriculum Development; Major AA Ogbu, the College Quartermaster; and Captain O Ogunrinde, Officer in Charge of Information and Communication Technology. Also recognized were Corporal Agagwu Uche and Lance Corporal Iriyomi Odewole for their dedicated service.

The Commandant, Major General Umar Mohammed Alkali, commended the departing personnel for their invaluable contributions to the growth and operations of the College. He urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of AWCN as they take up new assignments across various formations of the Nigerian Army.

“Wherever you find yourselves, always exemplify what the College stands for discipline, professionalism, and excellence,” Major General Alkali said, reaffirming the institution’s role as a centre of excellence for training future strategic leaders.

Among the new postings, Brigadier General Okolaogu has been appointed Commander, 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, while Colonel Bappaiya moves to 1 Division Nigerian Army as Acting Director, Education Services, alongside other strategic appointments.

The ceremony featured goodwill messages, words of encouragement, and the presentation of gift items as tokens of appreciation. Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the honourees, Brigadier General Okolaogu expressed profound gratitude to the Commandant, faculty, and staff of the College for their support and camaraderie throughout their service at AWCN.

The event ended with a group photograph and light refreshments, leaving behind fond memories of shared dedication, teamwork, and commitment to the values that define the Army War College Nigeria.
