The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify and sustain the search for the students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Gen. Shaibu, who arrived in Kebbi as part of an operational tour, issued the directive while addressing frontline commanders, stressing that only an aggressive, intelligence-led operation would be tolerated.

“We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he charged during an operational briefing with troops.

The Army Chief also held a strategic meeting with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as crucial partners in the operation due to their familiarity with the terrain.

He expressed confidence that the joint efforts would restore peace and ensure children can return to school safely.

Additionally, Gen. Shaibu visited the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the school’s principal, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, to condole with the community and reassure them of the military’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted students unharmed.

He further urged troops to maintain discipline and operate strictly within the rules of engagement while sustaining pressure on the criminal elements responsible for insecurity in the region.
