Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on the Nigerian Senate to probe the death of 13-year-old Ochanya Ogbanje, who died in 2018 after complications linked to prolonged sexual abuse.

Akpoti, speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, submitted a petition from Inibehe Effiong Chambers and accused some individuals of shielding those responsible from facing justice.

The move is expected to reopen national conversations around child protection, GBV, and justice delayed.
