ABUJA agog as 20th NOGIG Kick-Start in Style

With so much synergy, excitement, vibrancy, competitive spirit of sportsmanship; the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Games also, known as NOGIG has begun preparations for her 20th edition in FCT, Abuja.

However, the commencement of the sporting event began with a Press Briefing today at Rockview Royale Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja.

The year edition is tagged: Empowering Wellness and Productivity. Meanwhile, the activities include; Athletics, Basketball, Football, Badminton, Scrabble, Volleyball, Chess, Tennis, Swimming, Golf, Table-Tennis, Squash and Eight-Ball Pool.

More also, there are Thirteen sports; One Thousand, Two Hundred athletes and contingents as well as Coaches; Umpires and Officials featuring in the One-Week program from 8th till 14th February, 2026.

Expectedly, heading the Local Organizing Committee is Engineer: Suleiman Suleiman who spearheaded the outstanding and excellent recorded (NNPC) sporting fiesta LOC few weeks ago; while Chevron Mr. Chido Okoli serve as (1st Vice-Chairman), Mrs. Gloria Asuquo of TotalEnergy (LOC Welfare), Mr. Solomon Erakosima of Seplat Energy (Welfare) as Simon Nweke will handle the Media and Publicity.

According to the LOC Chairperson, "NOGIG is here to celebrate a historical moment of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games which marked a forty-years milestone achievement through national unity; sport resilience; workforce inclusiveness, healthy rivalry; fairness in competing".

Interestingly, since its inception about four decades ago, the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games has championed friendly competition in the energy sector, fostering unity among companies through shared values and excellence. 

 

"We remain committed, discipline, focus, purpose driven, integrity, development; also there are spectators across all participating organizations that will cheer their athletes; and we are looking forward to a memorable and successful event for us all" Suleiman added.

In summary, there is no iota of doubt that Nigeria is a blessed Nation with mineral resources and good citizenry, but working as well as showcasing exceptional talents; unique vibes; amazing swags; which means the 'Land  is Green' as the Grass that blossoms to global recognition
