The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has challenged graduating students of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) to embrace innovation and technology as critical tools for advancing Nigeria’s defence and security architecture.

The minister gave the charge at the institute’s combined 2nd, 3rd and 4th convocation ceremony held in Kaduna, where degrees, diplomas and special awards were conferred on deserving graduates.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Richard Pheelangwah, Musa underscored the importance of education and technological advancement in strengthening national security. He commended the graduates for their dedication and urged them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and commitment as they transition into the workforce.

He noted that the future of Nigeria’s technological growth and security stability rests largely on the capacity of young professionals to apply their knowledge and skills effectively.

“The future of our nation’s technological advancement lies in your hands. Your knowledge and skills are vital to the security and progress of our country,” he said.

Musa further praised AFIT for its reputation in cutting-edge research and quality training, stating that the institution continues to produce highly skilled personnel who contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s defence capabilities.

In his remarks, the Commandant of AFIT, Adeniran Ademuwagun, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to remain steadfast in service to the nation with integrity and dedication.

The ceremony was marked by the conferment of academic degrees, diplomas and special prizes on outstanding students, highlighting the institute’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development.
