NAWIS Applauds Gov. Diri Wrestling Classics, Commends NWF President Adeniyi on Welfare, Incentives

The National Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS), has commended the LOC and MOC of the ongoing 4th Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.


Despite his busy schedules as Nigeria Customs Controller-General, through his office, he has shown passion and unwavering support in Sport development in Nigeria.

 
While thanking the current leadership of the NWF board under him as the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for prioritising athletes' welfare and giving juicy incentives for Sport promotion in the country. 


Speaking to Journalists on Saturday, 3rd March, 2026 at the Day 4 of the championship in Yenagoa; the NAWIS representative in the board of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon. Princess Adejoke Adebusoye (PhD) highlighted his immense contributions to Sport development in Nigeria.


Adejoke Adebusoye attending her first championship as a board member of the Federation showered encomium on the Bayelsa State Government for the consistent support towards Wrestling. 


Expressing her satisfaction and appreciation with the Government and Federation on the hospitality accorded to the various delegates and participants.


Meanwhile, the NWF board member extended her gratitude to the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Sir Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his attitude towards athletes' welfare, describing it as a booster to the growth of the sport.According to her, the gesture to cater to various contingents adequately will encourage massive participation in subsequent editions.


Adejoke Adebusoye stated that the initiative aligns with the vision of the National Association of Women in Sports, which aims to promote, encourage, and support grassroots sports.
