The intensity of the 3rd Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League continued to rise on Match Day Eight in Abuja as teams battle for crucial points in what has become one of the most competitive editions of the championship.

At the centre of the day's action were the Nigeria Customs Service teams, whose consistency throughout the competition has reinforced their status as title contenders in both the men's and women's categories.

The men's team delivered another statement performance with a straight-sets victory over UCEM Volleyball Club, extending their impressive run in the first phase of the competition. Their display combined powerful attacking sequences, disciplined blocking, and efficient floor coverage, characteristics that have defined their campaign so far especially against worthy opponents like all the teams in the league.

The atmosphere inside the arena received an additional boost with the arrival of Comptroller Haniel Hadison Haruna, Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada. He was received by the Customs Sports Secretary, Superintendent of Customs Samuel Onikeku, alongside members of the coaching crew and sports department.

As the senior officer entered the venue, the Customs players appeared energized, responding with renewed determination on the court.

Speaking after the match, Comptroller Haruna attributed the team's confidence and professionalism to the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

According to him, the CGC's commitment to excellence has transformed the Service into a respected national institution while also creating opportunities for sports development.

He described the Nigeria Customs Service as a modern brand built on professionalism, competence, resilience, and international best practices, noting that these same values are reflected in the performance of the Customs volleyball teams.

The official also expressed confidence in both the men's and women's squads, urging them to sustain their momentum as the league progresses.

The CGC Volleyball Premier League, now in its third edition, has continued to serve as a major platform for talent development and elite competition across Nigeria.

The sponsorship of the championship by the Comptroller-General of Customs has elevated the profile of domestic volleyball while providing athletes with an environment to compete at the highest level.

With the race for playoff positions intensifying and every victory becoming increasingly valuable, the Nigeria Customs Service teams remain firmly focused on their objective: finishing among the league's elite and ultimately competing for championship honours.

If their performances in the opening phase are anything to go by, both Customs teams appear determined to remain among the frontrunners as the road to the title continues.
