The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has joined other top security officials in Nigeria for the Fourth Nigeria-United Kingdom Security and Defence Partnership Dialogue aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing emerging security challenges.

The high-level meeting, held in Abuja, brought together the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Defence Staff; Service Chiefs; the Inspector-General of Police; and other key stakeholders in Nigeria’s security architecture.

The dialogue was co-chaired by the Nigerian National Security Adviser and the United Kingdom National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell, with discussions centred on enhancing security collaboration, intelligence sharing, defence partnerships and strategies to tackle evolving threats.

The Nigeria-UK security partnership has remained a significant component of efforts to improve defence capabilities, promote regional stability and strengthen institutional cooperation between both countries.

The engagement also highlighted the commitment of both nations to deepening strategic ties through capacity building, information exchange and coordinated responses to shared security concerns.

The Nigerian Army, in line with the Federal Government’s national security objectives, reaffirmed its commitment to working with local and international partners to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity, promote peace and ensure national stability.
