Amazingly, the Edo State Sports Commission Chairman, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele has recently flagged off the Commission's grassroots sports development initiative, theme: "Discovering Tomorrow's Stars" The Talent Hunt Programme, is a call on Edo children to embrace the opportunity to build their sporting careers to enviable heights.
While speaking at the prestigious Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, said the programme was designed to identify, nurture, and develop hidden talents across Schools and Communities in the State.
‎Adding, the initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration to promote Youth development through Sports under the government's "Catch Them Young" policy and SHINE Agenda.
‎According to Enabulele, grassroots sports development remains the foundation for producing future champions, stressing that the state government is committed to creating opportunities for talented youths in Edo State to excel.
The Sports Commission leader disclosed that about 20 schools and over 270 athletes are participating in the maiden edition of the programme, competing in Athletics, Judo, Karate, Kung Fu, Wrestling, Taekwondo, Boxing and Kickboxing.

‎He urged the participants to view the competition as more than a quest for medals, describing it as a platform for self-discovery, confidence building, and personal growth.
‎"Some of the world's greatest athletes started from platforms like this. The next National champion, African champion, Olympian, and world champions could be standing among you here today," he said.
‎Enabulele encouraged the young athletes to remain disciplined, focused, and committed throughout the competition, noting that success in Sports requires hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
‎He further emphasized that talent development is a collective responsibility, calling on Coaches, Teachers, Parents, Sports Administrators, and Community leaders to work together in nurturing promising athletes.
‎Enabulele stated that the Sports Commission had already commenced the implementation of its sports development programmes, insisting that the initiative was conceived to secure a brighter future for Edo children.
‎He commended the Edo State Government for its unwavering support for grassroots sports development and appreciated Coaches, Teachers, Technical officials, and Parents for their contributions to the success of the programme.
‎Enabulele also praised the Director of Sports Development and Operations, Mrs. Sabina Chikere, the Permanent Secretary Mrs. Patricia Efe-Amenze, and members of the planning committee who worked tirelessly to organize a successful event.
