Army Graduates 3,000 Recruits to Boost Fight Against Insecurity

The Nigerian Army has graduated more than 3,000 newly trained recruits at Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State, as part of its ongoing mass recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the country's defence capabilities and addressing prevailing security challenges.

At the passing out parade, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, charged the new soldiers to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism as they begin active military service.

According to a statement by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the graduation represents a significant increase in the Nigerian Army's manpower capacity and aligns with the Federal Government's efforts to reinforce national security through sustained recruitment and training.

The statement noted that the latest passing-out parade follows similar graduations recently conducted at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria and the newly established training depot in Osogbo, highlighting the Army's deliberate expansion of its force generation capacity.

Addressing the recruits, Shaibu said their training had been designed to prepare them for the realities of modern warfare and Nigeria's evolving security landscape. 

He urged them to remain vigilant, disciplined and committed to their constitutional responsibilities, stressing that the nation expects them to justify the investment made in their training through courage, professionalism and selfless service.

The Army Chief also described the establishment of the depot at Amasiri-Edda as a strategic milestone in expanding the Nigerian Army's training infrastructure and manpower development in line with its transformation agenda. 

He commended the commandant, instructors and support staff for producing combat-ready personnel capable of supporting ongoing military operations across the country.

Also speaking at the event, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, praised the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army for establishing the depot in the state.

He described the facility as a strategic national asset that has enhanced security, stimulated economic activities and created employment and business opportunities for residents and neighbouring communities. 

Additional, the governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting the Armed Forces and other security agencies in promoting peace, stability and development.

The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, families of the recruits and other dignitaries. 

Also, It featured a colourful passing-out parade, precision drills and the presentation of awards to outstanding recruits, underscoring the Nigerian Army's commitment to building a disciplined and professional force capable of responding to emerging security threats.
