COAS Commissions Lt Gen Lagbaja Complex to Boost Army Training, Personnel Welfare

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Lagos, reaffirming the Nigerian Army's commitment to strengthening institutional capacity through improved infrastructure for professional military education, administration and personnel welfare.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, forms part of the Army's ongoing efforts to enhance operational effectiveness by investing in modern facilities that support the training and development of military personnel.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the newly commissioned facility was named in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian Army.

According to the statement, the complex is designed to improve the College's training, administrative and welfare capabilities by providing a conducive environment for developing highly skilled logistics professionals who will support operational efficiency across the Nigerian Army.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Shaibu described the late General Lagbaja as an exceptional military leader whose professionalism, integrity, selfless service and unwavering dedication to national service continue to inspire officers and soldiers.

He noted that naming the complex after the late Army Chief reflects the institution's enduring appreciation of his remarkable contributions to force development, leadership and operational excellence.

The COAS urged officers, instructors and students of the College to emulate the values demonstrated by the late General Lagbaja by remaining disciplined, professional and committed to excellence in the discharge of their duties.

He further reiterated that sustained investment in training institutions, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare remains central to his command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptive, combat-ready and resilient force capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency operational environment.
