Nigerian Navy, NDLEA Bust Drug Network, Arrest Suspect in Warri

The Nigerian Navy, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has disrupted an illicit drug distribution network in Warri, Delta State, arresting one suspect and recovering a cache of illegal substances during a coordinated enforcement operation.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the operation was carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA alongside NDLEA operatives as part of sustained efforts to rid the Navy's operational area of drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

The joint security team conducted intelligence-led raids across the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor, and Usiefrun areas of Warri, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of various illicit drugs, including Molly, cannabis, and skuruchi.

The Navy described the operation as a significant setback for local drug traffickers, noting that it reflects the growing effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in tackling organised crime and preventing the circulation of illicit substances.

The statement further stressed that drug trafficking remains closely linked to other forms of criminality capable of threatening public safety and national security, making sustained joint operations imperative.

The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the NDLEA and other security agencies through intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying criminal elements the freedom to operate and ensuring a safer environment for lawful economic activities within its area of responsibility.
