NPFL: Bayelsa United sign new Technical Adviser as Dep. Gov. unveils Maikaba, Elechi

With so much determination and committed resources in Sport Development by the Bayelsa State Government; today a new era has begun where the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, this morning unveiled Coach Abdul Maikaba as the new Technical Adviser of Bayelsa United FC, with a charge to return the team to the premier league in the next season.

However, the new gaffer will be assisted by another trusted Nigerian Coach, Ngozi Elechi, a former handler of Go-Round FC, Omoku in River State, Nigeria.

While speaking, Dr. Akpe, said Governor Douye Diri, who is not happy with the relegation of the team, has given the Dr. Peter Singabele-led Interim Management Board the immediate task of returning Bayelsa United to the elite league.

Coach Maikaba has managed several NPFL clubs including Wikki Tourist, Plateau United, Akwa United, Enyimba FC, Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars. He is an attacking minded gaffer.

More also, the Abdul Maikaba has an impressive coaching background with over 20 years of experience in Nigerian football. Here are some key highlights are: Aiteo Cup Success; Maikaba guided Akwa United to victory in the 2017 Aiteo Federation Cup; NPFL Title; He led Plateau United to the NPFL title in the 2019-20 season. WAFU B U-20 Championship.

The Flying Eagles won the WAFU B U-20 Championship and qualified for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-20 World Cup; Coaching Certifications; CAF Coaching Certifications: Maikaba holds advanced CAF coaching certifications, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to the sport. 

While his Philosophy are: Discipline and Teamwork: Maikaba emphasizes discipline, hard work, and teamwork in his coaching approach, earning him recognition and respect in Nigerian football.

In summary, if the renowned tactician got all the motivating support from Bayelsa United crew and management as they have been charged on immediate return to NPFL; the sky will be their limit.
