Troops Arrest Five Suspected Terrorist Logistics Suppliers, Seize Medical Supplies in Borno

Troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion of Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside Hybrid Forces, have disrupted a suspected terrorist logistics network with the arrest of five suspected logistics suppliers in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, which was carried out at about 1:30 p.m. on July 20, 2026, led to the interception of a large consignment of medical, veterinary and other items believed to be linked to a suspicious supply chain.

Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the suspects were apprehended during a routine security operation while transporting 491 cartons of Albe Stark 2.5 per cent dewormer and 100 cartons of multivitamin injections for animals without the required waybill or supporting documentation.

He disclosed that a thorough search of the vehicles uncovered additional concealed medical supplies, including 32 cartons of Diclofenac Sodium Injection, 58 cartons of Benzylpenicillin Sodium BP, six cartons of Dexamethasone Injection and 51 cartons of Metronidazole Intravenous Infusion.

The troops also recovered 30 units of 80-inch LG plasma televisions, 152 empty Bagco sacks and seven mobile phones during the operation.

According to Captain Goni, preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was destined for a vendor in N'Djamena, Chad Republic, while part of the concealed medical supplies was to be transferred into another truck near the Nigeria–Chad border in what appeared to be an attempt to evade security checks and conceal the movement of the items.

The five suspects are currently in the custody of the 24 Task Force Brigade for further investigation.

Operation HADIN KAI described the interception as another significant breakthrough in its sustained campaign to dismantle terrorist logistics and support networks operating across the North East.

The military said disrupting suspicious supply chains and intercepting materials before they reach their intended destination remains critical to denying terrorist groups the resources needed to sustain their operations, thereby degrading their operational capability and limiting their freedom of action.

The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to identifying and dismantling all networks that directly or indirectly support terrorist activities within the theatre of operations.

It also advised pharmaceutical distributors, transporters, healthcare providers, humanitarian organisations and other stakeholders to ensure that bulk medical, pharmaceutical and agrochemical consignments are properly documented and, where necessary, coordinated with the appropriate military authorities before movement within the North East.

According to the military, the measure is aimed at facilitating legitimate commercial and humanitarian activities while preventing terrorist elements from exploiting supply chains for illicit purposes.

Operation HADIN KAI further appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that public cooperation remains vital to disrupting terrorist logistics networks and consolidating lasting peace, security and stability across the North East.
