Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 13 kidnapped victims during separate intelligence-led operations in Zamfara State, dealing another blow to terrorist activities in the region.

The successful operations, conducted in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, also led to the recovery of two vehicles and the disruption of planned terrorist attacks.

The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the first operation was carried out by troops of Sector 2 in Bagega following credible intelligence indicating that armed terrorists riding motorcycles were advancing towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.

Acting on real-time surveillance, the troops swiftly tracked and engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee the area.

A follow-up search led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp where five kidnapped civilians were found and rescued unharmed.

In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops responded to intelligence reports of terrorist activities and engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle.

The terrorists were overwhelmed by the troops' superior firepower and retreated in disarray, abandoning eight kidnapped victims who were subsequently rescued. The troops also recovered two vehicles during the operation.

Lieutenant Colonel Danja said all the rescued victims had been handed over to the appropriate authorities for medical attention, care and other necessary support.

He added that troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have continued to dominate the operational environment, maintaining sustained pressure on terrorists and other criminal elements while denying them freedom of movement across the North-West theatre.

The latest operation underscores the military's ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, enhance security and protect communities across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
