The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres of products suspected to be illegally sourced Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

The seizure was made on Monday, August 24, 2026, by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Lekki during an operation aimed at curbing the illegal trade and storage of petroleum products as well as the proliferation of illicit drugs within the base’s area of operations.

In a statement, the Director of Naval Information, Nigerian Navy, Commodore Abiodun Folorunsho, said the operation was part of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities within its area of responsibility.

According to him, the suspects fled the location before they could be apprehended, while the recovered exhibits were secured and transported to the base for further investigation and appropriate action.

He said the operation underscored the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to combating activities that threaten national economic interests, public safety and security.

The Navy further reaffirmed its resolve to sustain operations against the illegal trade in petroleum products and illicit drugs within its area of operations.
