By Harriet Tornguvan
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has felicitated Muslims in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Director, Media and Public Relations of the NCPC, Celestine Toruka, Bishop Adegbite urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion for spiritual reflection, self-examination and a renewed commitment to the virtues exemplified by the Prophet.
He called on Muslims to shun actions contrary to the teachings of the Holy Prophet, describing Muhammad as a shining light and a model for humanity.
The NCPC boss encouraged the faithful to devote the celebration to learning more about the life, teachings and exemplary deeds of the Prophet, stressing that such reflection would promote peaceful coexistence and strengthen moral values in society.
Bishop Adegbite also urged Muslims to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders of the country, particularly as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
He expressed optimism that the elections would be peaceful and that the will of God would prevail.
The NCPC Executive Secretary further appealed to Muslim clerics to continue providing sound spiritual guidance to their followers and encourage them to embrace peace and peaceful coexistence.
He stressed the importance of upholding the values of peace, love, harmony, dialogue and patriotism, noting that these virtues were essential to national unity and development.
Bishop Adegbite wished Muslims a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration, urging them to reflect the virtues of the Prophet Muhammad in their daily lives.
