The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Adamu Abubakar Dabban, has commended the publication of two new agricultural books aimed at strengthening knowledge and practical capacity in crop protection in Nigeria.
Dabban gave the commendation on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the launch of the books held at Haske Luxury, Governor’s Hall, Minna, Niger State.
The books, authored by Dr Saidu Adamu Paiko, are titled Applied Plant Pathology and Crop Disease Management in Nigeria: A Practical Manual for Students in Agriculture and Major Crop Pests of Nigeria: Identification, Biology and Integrated Management.
The ARCN boss said the publications would contribute to agricultural research, education and improved farming practices by providing practical knowledge on the identification and management of crop diseases and pests.
He stressed that effective crop disease and pest management remained critical to increasing agricultural yields, protecting farmers’ investments and strengthening Nigeria’s food security.
Dabban urged students, researchers, agricultural extension officers, farmers and other practitioners to take advantage of the books as reference materials for learning, research and the adoption of improved agricultural practices.
He congratulated Paiko on the publication, describing the books as a valuable contribution to the advancement of agricultural knowledge and capacity building in Nigeria.
The ARCN Executive Secretary reaffirmed the importance of strengthening agricultural research and knowledge dissemination as part of efforts to improve productivity and support sustainable food production across the country.
