Defence Ministry Rewards Six Staff for Excellence in Service Delivery

The Ministry of Defence has rewarded six members of staff for their outstanding performance and commitment to quality service delivery as part of activities marking the 2026 Customer Service Week.
The Director overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Bosede Olaniyi, presented the awards during the closing ceremony of the week long celebration held at the Ministry’s headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.
Olaniyi reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to excellence, professionalism and efficient service delivery, stressing that recognising outstanding employees would encourage improved performance and strengthen institutional effectiveness.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Enderline Chukwu, Olaniyi commended the award recipients for their dedication and contributions to the Ministry’s operations.
She said excellence in service delivery remained critical to the effective performance of the Ministry and the achievement of its mandate.
According to her, the recognition was designed to celebrate personnel who had demonstrated exemplary commitment, professionalism and dedication in their respective duties.
She urged staff to uphold the core values of professionalism, integrity, efficiency and accountability, noting that every employee had a role to play in building a responsive and service-oriented Ministry.
Olaniyi added that rewarding outstanding performance was not only a way of appreciating deserving employees but also an encouragement for others to strive for higher standards in the interest of the nation.
She further emphasised that customer service was a collective responsibility, urging staff to treat colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public with respect, courtesy and professionalism.
Earlier, the Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Ogidi-Paul I. H. said the award recipients had distinguished themselves through their commitment, dedication and demonstration of excellent customer service in their various capacities.
She expressed appreciation to Olaniyi for her leadership, support and commitment to the successful organisation of the 2026 Customer Service Week.
Ogidi-Paul also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry’s management team, noting that their support and participation had helped ensure the success of the week-long activities.
The six staff members recognised for their outstanding performance were Gaiya I. Reuben, Haruna Abdullahi, CPL Akawu Blessing Uweng, Usman Shuaibu, Abubakar Idris and Isah Gunduma.
The recipients expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the recognition, which they described as an encouragement to sustain their commitment to effective service delivery.
