The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting to mark 100 days to the 2027 General Election.

The event is expected to provide an update on the Commission’s preparations for the elections, with focus on the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

In a statement signed electronically by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, the Commission said its Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, would address the gathering alongside other key stakeholders in the electoral process.

The National Stakeholders’ Meeting is also expected to underscore INEC’s commitment to transparency, proactive communication and engagement with relevant actors ahead of the elections.

Those expected at the meeting include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups and disability rights advocates.

Others are religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.

The engagement comes as the 2027 General Election enters the final 100-day countdown, with INEC expected to provide stakeholders and the public with further details on the Commission’s level of preparedness and key activities ahead of the polls.
