NAF Air Support Disrupts Kidnappers’ Operations in Benue
By Harriet Tornguvan
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State, near the Enugu–Benue boundary.
The operation involved close air support for surface forces conducting an operation against the criminal elements in the area.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the air operation successfully disrupted the activities of the suspected kidnappers and supported the advance of the ground forces.
Ejodame said following the successful completion of the mission, the pilot, on his return to base, exercised professional discretion to conduct a precautionary landing approximately 10 nautical miles from the airfield, in line with established operational and safety procedures following combat missions.
He added that the helicopter had subsequently returned safely to base.
The NAF spokesman reaffirmed the Service's commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements and providing close air support to surface forces in efforts to protect communities and restore security in affected areas.
He said the successful operation underscored the NAF's resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action through coordinated air and ground operations.
