The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has received the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award from Verbatim Magazine for its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability in public service.

The award was presented at the 2026 Verbatim Awards, organised by Verbatim Print and Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NDIC, Thompson Oludare Sunday, was represented at the event by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms Hawwau Gambo, who received the award on behalf of the Corporation.

The NDIC earned the recognition after emerging second overall in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) of the ICPC.

The EICS is an integrity assessment framework developed by the ICPC to promote ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices across Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government.

The assessment covers four key areas, management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems and anti-corruption initiatives.

In his keynote address, titled “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity,” the ICPC Chairman, Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director, Systems Study and Review Department, Olusegun Adigun, stressed the importance of integrity in strengthening public institutions.

Receiving the award, Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the NDIC's performance based on the ICPC's independently validated integrity scorecard.

She reaffirmed the Corporation's commitment to maintaining high standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance in carrying out its mandates of deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, failure resolution and bank liquidation.

Gambo said the recognition reflected the Corporation's sustained efforts to maintain stakeholders' confidence while promoting stability in Nigeria's banking system.

She added that the award would further encourage the NDIC to deepen compliance with the highest standards of professionalism, excellence and public trust.
