Matawalle Marks Nigeria’s 64th Independence, Calls for Unity and Security

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, extends his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Armed Forces, and the entire nation on this historic occasion as Nigeria commemorates its 64th Independence Anniversary

Matawalle expressed pride in the country's achievements and the enduring resilience of its citizens. He remarked, “Nigeria’s journey has been one of unwavering strength".

He said as we celebrate this milestone, we must renew our dedication to preserving the unity, peace, and security of our nation.

The Minister also honored the Armed Forces for their pivotal role in maintaining the nation's sovereignty. 

'Our military remains the bedrock of our independence. 

"Their commitment and sacrifices ensure that Nigeria continues to thrive as a secure and sovereign state.

Matawalle urged all Nigerians to embrace national solidarity, emphasizing the importance of unity in achieving a peaceful and prosperous future. 

"Let us come together as one people, driven by a shared vision for the progress of Nigeria.

Matawalle, reflected on the significance of this anniversary, encouraged citizens to draw inspiration from the "Renewed Hope Agenda" of the current administration. 

Additionally, he praised the resilience of Nigerians in overcoming numerous challenges, he said, “The Nigerian spirit is one of strength and determination, and it is this spirit we must build upon to advance our nation.”

He further commended President Tinubu's ongoing efforts to support the military through enhanced training and capacity-building initiatives aimed at tackling insurgency, banditry, and other security threats. 

Matawalle called on the Armed Forces to intensify their collaboration with other security agencies to combat insecurity.

“As we celebrate 64 years of independence, we acknowledge both our progress and the obstacles we have overcome. 

The Minister said, Nigeria remains an indivisible nation, and for that, we are grateful. Matawalle stated "I wish President Tinubu, the Armed Forces, and all Nigerians a memorable and joyful Independence Day celebration".
