The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has extended heartfelt tributes on behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the nation’s founding fathers as Nigeria marks its 64th Independence Anniversary

He acknowledged their relentless determination, resilience, and sacrifice, which were driven by deep love for the country and have kept Nigeria united over the past six decades.

General Musa noted that although Nigeria gained independence peacefully, the journey to nationhood has not been without challenges. He emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces, who have paid the ultimate price in the defense of the nation.

Heneral Musa called on all members of the Armed Forces to remain patriotic and dedicated to their professional duties, ensuring peace and stability across the country.

He highlighted the significance of loyalty to constituted authorities and urged service members to uphold the values that unite the nation. He further commended the Armed Forces for their unwavering support of Nigeria’s democratically elected government over the past 25 years, ensuring stability and governance remain intact.

The CDS also took the opportunity to praise the courage and commitment of Nigerian troops in the ongoing fight against insurgency, banditry, and other forms of criminal activity.

Additionally, he reminded the public that the fight against insecurity requires the collective effort of all Nigerians. He urged citizens to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities, stressing that the Armed Forces would not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the nation.

General Musa expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of the military, ensuring it has the necessary resources to protect the country. He also acknowledged the contributions of other arms of government towards nation-building.

He extended his warm wishes for a happy Independence Day to all Nigerians.
