The Defense Headquarters has addressed recent media reports suggesting that the Niger State House of Assembly alleged a takeover of the Nigerian Army's Military Training Area in Kotangora Local Government Area by bandits.

In an official statement, Director of Defense Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, categorically dismissed the claims as inaccurate. He emphasized that while there have been encounters with terrorists in the region, no portion of the training area has been seized by hostile forces.

General Buba clarified that ongoing military operations in the area aim to neutralize any threats posed by terrorists crossing through the vast terrain.

"Our clearance efforts in the region have restricted the movement of these terrorists, limiting their ability to operate freely.

Furthermore, General Buba highlighted the Armed Forces' commitment to clarifying the nature of these security threats.

"Operations in Niger State are targeted specifically against terrorist groups, and any other characterization of these threats is misleading.

He also affirmed the military's collaboration with the Niger State Government to enhance security measures and protect civilians. "Our troops remain resolute in their mission to dismantle these terrorist elements wherever they may be found," General Buba assured.
