BREAKING: TINUBU APPOINTS NEW SERVICE CHIEFS TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL SECURITY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major reshuffle in the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of efforts to enhance the country’s security architecture.


In the new appointments announced on Friday, General Olufemi Oluyede has been named the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu takes over as Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes office as the Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas becomes the new Chief of Naval Staff.


Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.


President Tinubu, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership during their tenure.


He further charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and unity in advancing the nation’s defence objectives.


All appointments, according to the Presidency, take immediate effect.
