Nigerian Navy Rescues Building Collapse Victims in Lagos
The Nigerian Navy has rescued several victims trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building at Alakija, Lagos State, in a swift humanitarian response aimed at saving lives and supporting civil authorities.
Following a distress call on the incident, personnel of the Nigerian Navy immediately mobilised to the scene and joined other emergency responders in the search and rescue operation. The coordinated efforts led to the successful recovery of victims from the debris, who were evacuated for immediate medical attention.
In a statement issued by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain A.A. Folorunsho, the rescued victims were taken to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, Lagos, where they received emergency medical treatment and continued care from medical personnel.
The Chief of the Naval Staff commended the bravery, professionalism, and dedication of the rescue team, as well as the medical personnel of the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, for their efforts in ensuring the victims received prompt attention.
He also acknowledged the cooperation of other emergency response agencies and members of the public whose support contributed to the success of the rescue operation.
The Nigerian Navy expressed sympathy to families affected by the unfortunate incident and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance and supporting civil authorities whenever required, in line with its constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives and ensuring national security.
