Military Pressure Forces ISWAP Leaders to Surrender as Operation Hadin Kai Intensifies Offensive

The sustained military pressure by troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has forced more Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists to abandon their hideouts, with top leaders of the terror groups surrendering to the Nigerian military.

The development is part of the continued successes recorded by Operation HADIN KAI in its counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations across the North-East, driven by intelligence-led missions and coordinated military actions.

According to the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, a fresh group of high-ranking ISWAP leaders recently surrendered to troops after coming under intense operational pressure from ongoing military campaigns.

Captain Goni said the surrendered terrorists, identified as key members of the insurgent network, are currently being held at a secure location where they are undergoing profiling, debriefing and other procedures in line with established military protocols.

He noted that the latest surrender underscores the growing impact of the military’s sustained offensive operations, which have continued to weaken terrorist command structures, disrupt logistics networks and restrict the freedom of action of insurgent groups operating within the theatre.

The military spokesperson further revealed that within the last week alone, 76 terrorist fighters, including some with their families, surrendered to troops, signalling increasing loss of confidence among insurgents and their leadership.

The gains, he said, reflect the effectiveness of the Nigerian military’s comprehensive approach to tackling terrorism, combining precision operations, credible intelligence gathering and collaboration among security stakeholders and partners.

Operation HADIN KAI has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the offensive against remaining terrorist elements, stressing that military pressure will continue until terrorism is completely defeated and lasting peace is restored across the North-East.

The latest development adds to ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to dismantle terrorist networks and create a safer environment for communities affected by years of insurgency.
