Defence Minister Tasks Security Forces on Professionalism After Commissioning Armoured Fleet

The Defence Minister, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has commissioned a newly acquired fleet of armoured vehicles and security equipment procured by the Sokoto State Government, describing the initiative as a major boost to efforts aimed at strengthening security and combating criminal activities in the state.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Wednesday in Sokoto, saw the minister commend Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritising the security of lives and property through strategic investment in modern security assets.
Musa said the acquisition of the armoured fleet demonstrates the state government's commitment to supporting ongoing military and security operations, stressing that peace and security remain essential for sustainable development and economic growth.
He noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises the protection of lives and property, restoration of peace, and creation of an enabling environment for national development.
According to the minister, addressing Nigeria's evolving security challenges requires stronger collaboration among the federal, state and local governments, as well as security agencies and communities.
He explained that the newly deployed armoured vehicles and security equipment would enhance force protection, improve troop mobility and strengthen rapid response capabilities in tackling insecurity across the region.
Musa, however, stressed that sophisticated equipment alone would not guarantee success, emphasising that professionalism, discipline and effective inter-agency cooperation remain critical to achieving lasting security.
He also praised the Sokoto State Government for complementing conventional military operations with community-based intelligence initiatives, describing public trust and timely intelligence as vital components of effective security operations.
Addressing troops and other security personnel deployed to the frontline, the minister urged them to deploy the newly acquired assets responsibly, professionally and in strict compliance with the rule of law.
He charged the personnel to justify the government's investment through selfless service, integrity and sustained operations against criminal elements threatening the peace of the state.
Musa reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to leveraging advanced technology, improved operational capabilities and enhanced personnel welfare to build a safer and more secure Nigeria where citizens can live and pursue their livelihoods without fear.
