The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has felicitated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, conveyed the congratulatory message on behalf of the Board, Management and staff of the NCPC, describing the Sultan’s 70th birthday as a “Platinum Jubilee” worthy of celebration and thanksgiving to God.

In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Public Relations, NCPC, Celestine Toruka, Bishop Adegbite said the Sultan had devoted his life to the service of humanity, nation-building and the promotion of peace, unity, stability and development in Nigeria.

He described the monarch as a shining example of bridge-building and religious tolerance, particularly in his capacity as Co-Chairman of the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council (NIREC).

“Your Eminence has remained a shining example of bridge-building and tolerance. As Co-Chairman of the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council, NIREC, you have provided exemplary leadership for inter-faith harmony among adherents of different religious faiths in Nigeria,” Adegbite said.

The NCPC boss further described the Sultan as a rare gem, a detribalised Nigerian and a global advocate of peace who had consistently preached patriotism, national unity and peaceful coexistence.

Adegbite prayed for continued divine guidance, good health and longevity for the Sultan as he joins the league of septuagenarians, urging him to continue his service to the people and the nation.

He also commended the Sultan for his unwavering commitment to the stability and unity of Nigeria, while wishing him many more years of impactful service to humanity.
